Note: the use of X11 (including tcltk) requires XQuartz to be installed since it is no longer part of OS X. The latter two components are optional and can be ommitted when choosing 'custom install', it is only needed if you want to use the tcltk R package or build package documentation from sources. The Mac OS series had some issues when it came to the graphical user interface which was frowned upon by many Apple users. Mac OS sierra made a revolutionary shift from the recent trends in the Mac OS history. However, I don't see Sierra in my Purchased tab in the App Store: Was Sierra 10.12 completely removed from the store (including previous purchases)? Mac OS sierra launched in mid-2016 made a drastic entry into the market after the OS X. Knowing that, I should be able to see the previous version in the App Store as outlined in this answer. I have previously upgraded my personal computer as follows: El Capitan - Sierra - High Sierra. Typically the need for Java is for specific app usage, particular app compatibility, or for developers, and it’s worth mentioning that most Mac users won’t need to bother installing Java at all. Some Mac users may need to install Java into macOS Sierra or MacOS High Sierra. A newer version of this package is already installed'. When I try to install Java SE 6 (Java for OSX 2014-001) the installer tells me that 'Java for OX 2014-001 can't be installed on this disk.
